Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, after defeating 21 other contestants at the glamorous grand finale held on Saturday night in Lagos.
Basil clinched the crown after a tense final showdown with Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, who finished as the first runner-up. Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, took the second runner-up position, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, emerged as third runner-up. Rounding out the top five was Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, who also earned the title of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
Out of the 22 contestants who began the competition, only 10 advanced to the final stage, including representatives from Delta, Ekiti, Oyo, Imo, and Ebonyi States.
The finale, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, was attended by a large audience and attracted massive engagement on social media as fans across the country followed the countdown to the crown.
Onyinyechi Basil now succeeds Chidinma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, who also holds the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania. With her new crown, Basil will represent Nigeria on the global stage later this year at the Miss Universe pageant, where she will compete against contestants from across the world.
