SAD: Man Stabs Lady to Death After Inviting Her to His House

A tragic incident has unfolded in the Owhelogbo community, Isoko area of Delta State, where a man has allegedly stabbed a young woman, identified as Happy Odhegba, to death after inviting her to his residence.

According to human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, the suspect, known as Jolly Ajiofo (also referred to as Mr. Mayor), reportedly committed the heinous act on Sunday, July 27, 2025, inside his rented apartment.

In a statement shared online, Comrade Joe wrote:

“The man here, Mr. Mayor, today Sunday the 27th of July, allegedly gruesomely murdered Miss Happy Odhegba in Owhelogbo in the Isoko Area of Delta State. We have been trying to track him down since morning. Mr. Mayor, who is an indigene of Imo State, resides in the community and is also building a house there.”

He further revealed that Happy Odhegba was a cement dealer and had been supplying cement to the suspect before the incident occurred.

“He invited her to his rented house, and issues came up. Neighbours heard Happy shouting and fighting for her life. Suddenly, everywhere went quiet. Unknown to them, this vampire had allegedly killed Happy by strangling and stabbing her multiple times. He fled the scene and switched off his phone since morning,” Joe added.

The body of the deceased was evacuated to the mortuary later that day by her family members and the police. The suspect is currently on the run.

Comrade Joe, visibly enraged, vowed to pursue justice for the late Odhegba:

“This monster is on the run, but I bet, he won’t go free. This goat even called me via WhatsApp asking why I was concerned. The same thing Efe Money did in Otokutu that made me go the extra mile. Dear Mayor, if the police do not apprehend you, my name is not Israel Joe. He has totally absconded, but we shall see. I will make sure you return. We demand justice for this innocent, self-sustaining hustling lady, Happy Odhegba.”

Meanwhile, former Secretary to the Delta State Government and Okiroro of Isoko Nation, Chief Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, condemned the gruesome murder.

During a condolence visit to the bereaved family on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Chief Macaulay expressed deep sorrow over the increasing spate of violence in the community and called for urgent adoption of community policing to address crimes at the grassroots level.

“We must act fast to curb this menace. Just within eight months, we have recorded three different killings within this community, and this is heartbreaking. Tomorrow, it can be anyone. We must act fast to stop this,” he said.

The community and concerned citizens are currently urging the police and relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to arrest and prosecute the suspect to serve as a deterrent to others.
