In a shocking display of impunity, a terrorist in Kwara State has hijacked the TikTok account of a kidnapped victim and is now boldly posting videos from a forest hideout, daring the Nigerian Police by openly revealing his face and taunting security forces.
The victim, a well-known Point of Sale (POS) agent identified as Yman, was abducted in late June 2025 alongside several others in coordinated attacks across communities in Kwara North. Since the abduction, the terrorists have used Yman's phone to send ransom messages and disturbing videos to his family, including footage of him pleading for help while being tortured and starved.
In a brazen escalation, one of the kidnappers has taken control of Yman’s TikTok account and uploaded at least seven videos showing his face, their forest location, and even their operational motorcycle. According to family members, the videos were posted using the victim’s phone number and have already gathered over 10,000 views in less than 24 hours.
“He’s not even wearing a mask or hiding. He has hijacked the TikTok account and is using it to show off,” a relative told reporters. “He’s been calling us with Yman’s number and now this he is clearly daring the Nigerian Police and mocking the system.”
The terrorist's boldness has ignited public outrage, as Nigerians question how such digital activity connected to a known abductee’s phone can persist without interception. Many believe the criminal feels emboldened by the perceived inability of security agencies to track or confront him.
“This country is finished,” the family member added. “He knows the security forces can’t reach him that’s why he’s flaunting it online.”
So far, the Nigerian Police and other security agencies have not issued any official statement regarding the incident, despite growing calls for action and accountability.
This incident mirrors a similar one reported in August 2024, when another terrorist released a video urging Nigerians to send their bank account details after praising bandit leader Mohammed Bello Turji Kachalla during protests. While some Nigerians responded, it remains unclear whether any promises made by the terrorists were fulfilled.
The use of social media by criminal elements now even as a platform to taunt authorities and publicize their crimes , is raising serious concerns about Nigeria’s national security and the effectiveness of its intelligence-gathering and law enforcement systems.
