BREAKING!! Governor Dismiss Two Commissioners As Gale of Sack Sweep Across Nigeria

In a continued wave of political shake-ups across the country, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has announced the immediate sack of two commissioners and effected a minor cabinet reshuffle, marking a strategic move to realign his administration for improved performance.

The decision, which was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Thursday, affects Engr. Emat Kois, former Commissioner for Environment, and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim, former Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties.

Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their contributions to the development of the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.

To fill the resulting vacancies, Engr. Mohammed Habib has been nominated as the new Commissioner for Environment, while Ibrahim Hala Hassan is set to replace Hon. Tukur Ibrahim as Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties. Their appointments are subject to confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.

In a related development, Governor Zulum approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board. Professor Balami, an expert in Educational Psychology, hails from Hawul Local Government Area in the southern part of the state and is expected to bring renewed vigor to the state’s educational reform drive.

The changes come amid a wave of similar actions by other state governors. Earlier this week, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru suspended 25 commissioners, while Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia dissolved his entire cabinet.

Analysts believe Zulum’s latest move is part of a broader strategy to consolidate gains and address critical areas requiring accelerated attention, especially in the education and environmental sectors.

Political watchers are keeping a close eye on how the reshuffle will impact governance in Borno State, especially as the administration enters a crucial phase in delivering on its promises of post-insurgency recovery and development.
