Lagos,The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness, sending waves of grief across the local government area and political circles.

His death was formally announced on Saturday through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bodunrin Ayodele, on Facebook. While the statement did not specify the exact time of his passing, it confirmed that the chairman had been battling health challenges for some time.

“Prince Asafa, a respected politician, leader and dedicated public servant, succumbed to a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people he served,” the statement read.

According to a close family source, the late chairman had received extensive medical attention during his illness but ultimately could not recover. His demise has left his family, friends, political allies, and constituents in shock and mourning.

Tributes have already begun to pour in from across Lagos State. Among them, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, Abdul-Hamed Salawu, extended condolences on behalf of the people and government of Somolu.

“The Executive, Legislature, Management, and people of Somolu Local Government send their heartfelt condolences to the people of Oto-Awori LCDA and the APC family over the painful demise of Prince Musibau Adekunle Asafa,” his statement read.
“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”

Prince Asafa was known for his dedication to grassroots development and was widely respected for his leadership and commitment to community growth. His legacy, according to colleagues and community members, will continue to inspire those in public service.

Oto-Awori LCDA remains in mourning, with flags flying at half-mast and activities slowed in tribute to their fallen leader.
