BREAKING: SAD NEWS! Former Chief Judge, Justice Is Dead!



Justice Daniel Dantshoho Abutu, former Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, has passed away. His death was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the court’s Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Hassan.

Justice Abutu, who led the court from September 2009 until his retirement in March 2011, was praised for his integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to justice. In tribute, the Federal High Court described him as a distinguished jurist who devoted his life to advancing the judiciary and the nation.

“All divisions of the Federal High Court have been directed to display his portrait in a place of honour, and condolence registers have been opened to allow members of the legal community and the public to pay their respects,” the statement read.

Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.


Minister of Information to Chair GOCOP Book Launch in Abuja

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, will chair the launch of a new book by the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) titled Nigeria Media Renaissance: GOCOP Perspective on Online Publishing.

The unveiling is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, by 11:00 a.m.

GOCOP President Maureen Chigbo confirmed the event will draw government officials, media professionals, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations. Proceeds from the book will go toward the N2.3 billion GOCOP Media Centre project, which will house the association’s secretariat, library, and event spaces.

Alhaji Idris, a seasoned media entrepreneur and founder of Blueprint newspaper, WE FM radio, and Rapid TV, was appointed Minister in 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He holds degrees from Uthman Danfodio and Bayero Universities and has been honoured with the traditional title “Kaakaki Nupe” by the Etsu Nupe for his contributions to media and community development.

The Guild, made up of veteran journalists from traditional and digital platforms, continues to promote professionalism and credibility in online journalism across Nigeria.
