The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Chapter, has threatened to take legal action against the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over the widespread failure recorded in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Addressing journalists in Nsukka on Wednesday, the Chairman of ASUU-UNN, Comrade Oyibo Eze, alleged that the mass failure, which disproportionately affected candidates from the South-East, appeared to be a deliberate scheme to deny students from the region access to tertiary education.
He expressed deep concern over what he described as a systematic marginalization of South-East youths, stressing that the pattern of failure suggested a targeted attempt to frustrate their academic advancement.
According to Comrade Eze, ASUU-UNN would not hesitate to drag JAMB to court if the board fails to provide a transparent explanation and take corrective steps to address the issue.
