Princess Nkem Azodo has made a heartfelt appeal to the public for assistance in locating her mother, Obioma Maria Ezike Azodo, who was banished from their village in Anambra State two decades ago over an accusation she maintains was false.

According to Nkem, her mother was unjustly expelled from Nawgwu, a community in Dunukofia Local Government Area, in 2005 after being accused by her aunt of stealing N5,000. The accusation led to a swift and harsh reaction from local vigilantes, who stormed their home on the day Obioma returned from the market. Nkem stated that her mother was forced to flee the village without a chance to defend herself.

The emotional toll on the family has been profound. Nkem disclosed that her mother continued to secretly visit her children until 2011. However, all contact ceased after that year, and repeated efforts to trace her whereabouts have been unsuccessful.

“Her own family doesn’t know where she is either. I don’t know if she’s still alive. I don’t know where else to look. And the pain of not knowing never goes away,” Nkem wrote in a moving Facebook post dated April 30.

Now living outside the village, Nkem is turning to the public for help in hopes of finding her mother or gaining any information about her fate. She is appealing to anyone with knowledge of Obioma’s whereabouts to come forward.
