Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt, Recover Victim’s Vehicle

The Anambra State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a victim’s vehicle during a swift intervention by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on the evening of Friday, May 17, 2025, at Amatu village in Agulu, where a five-man kidnapping gang, operating in a black Toyota Corolla, intercepted and abducted a victim alongside his black Lexus 350 SUV.

Upon receiving a distress alert, the operatives immediately launched a technology-driven manhunt, which placed pressure on the suspects and forced them to abandon the victim and his vehicle along the road at Isuaniocha, before fleeing the scene.

“The victim has been debriefed and is in safe custody,” SP Ikenga confirmed in an official statement.

He added that the Command is actively working with intelligence gathered from the victim to identify and apprehend the suspects.

“The operatives have stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspects and to nip in the bud any untoward situation,” SP Ikenga added.

The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive of law enforcement efforts.
