"If You Are Not A Coward, Join APC" -PDP Chieftain Dares Wike

The former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Chief (Dr.) Ndubuisi Nwobu, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, accusing him of political cowardice for refusing to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite his open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking in Awka, Nwobu challenged Wike to obtain an APC membership card and formalize his defection, saying his insistence on remaining in the PDP while backing the APC-led administration is a contradiction and a sign of political dishonesty.

“If Wike were man enough, he would go and obtain an APC membership card,” Nwobu declared, adding that Wike’s actions undermine party loyalty and integrity.

Nwobu alleged that Wike, during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State, manipulated the PDP’s internal structures, planting loyalists throughout the party, particularly in the National Working Committee (NWC), to advance his personal political interests under the guise of strengthening the party.

He further noted that Wike’s influence continues to hinder internal discipline within the PDP, as many of his loyalists still occupy strategic positions and shield him from sanctions through financial inducements.

However, Nwobu assured that efforts are underway to reclaim the party, starting with the removal of the national secretary, a known Wike loyalist. He added that the upcoming National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and subsequent national convention will be instrumental in restoring the party’s independence and eliminating Wike’s lingering dominance.

“With the emergence of a new leadership, the political coloration that has held the party hostage will be eliminated,” he stated.
