A 23-year-old woman identified as Abigail Victor has been arraigned before a Kaduna Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during a heated altercation over suspected infidelity.
The incident, which occurred on May 17, 2025, at Sabon Tasha in Kaduna State, reportedly began after Abigail confronted her boyfriend, Dominic James, over allegations of cheating. According to police reports, the dispute escalated into violence.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the prosecuting officer, Inspector Chidi Leo, informed the court that the defendant, acting out of anger, invited two of her friends to the complainant’s residence. Upon arrival, the three allegedly physically assaulted Dominic and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife.
Inspector Leo added that it took the intervention of neighbors to stop the attack, after which the injured Dominic was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Abigail, a resident of Ungwan Sunday, is facing two charges, criminal conspiracy and causing bodily harm, in violation of Sections 58 and 284 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
Under these statutes, a conviction for conspiracy may attract up to one year in prison, while causing bodily harm carries a minimum sentence of five years.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted Abigail bail in the sum of ₦200,000, with one surety in like sum. The court specified that the surety must be a blood relative and present evidence of three years’ tax clearance from the Kaduna State Government.
The case has been adjourned to June 17, 2025, for further hearing.
