BREAKING: Missing Lady Who Criticized Sokoto Governor Found in Critical Condition at Zamfara Hospital

The embattled activist and vocal critic of the Sokoto State Governor, Hamdiyya Sharif, who was declared missing on Tuesday, has been located in Bakura General Hospital in Zamfara State, where she is currently in critical condition.

Her lawyer, Abba Hikima, made this revelation on Wednesday via a post in Hausa on his official Facebook page, confirming that she had been found after over 24 hours of uncertainty and fear.

“We have been informed that Hamdiyya is in Bakura General Hospital in Zamfara State. She is in a critical condition. But there are security personnel with her,” Hikima wrote.

He also confirmed that Hamdiyya was kidnapped, though further details regarding the circumstances of her abduction and current medical state remain unclear.

The lawyer had earlier raised the alarm over her disappearance, disclosing that she went missing at around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday after leaving her home in Sokoto to buy foodstuff. She failed to return and all efforts to reach her proved abortive.

“The Sokoto State Police Command has been informed,” Hikima stated in his earlier update.

The news of her reappearance in Zamfara has sparked widespread concern among human rights advocates and civil society organizations, especially given her known criticism of political leadership in the northwestern region.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the case, and it is still unclear who was behind the abduction or how she ended up in Zamfara State.

More details are expected as the investigation unfolds.
