Breaking News! Lady Who Criticised Nigerian Governor Declared Missing

Prominent Sokoto Government Critic Hamdiyyah Sharif Declared Missing

Hamdiyyah Sharif, a well-known critic of Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has been reported missing under troubling circumstances. Her lawyer, Barr. Abba Hikima, made the announcement via his official Facebook page on Wednesday, sparking concerns about her safety and potential political intimidation.

According to Hikima, Hamdiyyah disappeared around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday after leaving her residence to purchase foodstuffs in Sokoto. Since then, she has not been seen or heard from.

“Hamdiyyah has been missing since 10:00 am yesterday. She left to buy some food items and never returned,” Hikima wrote, urging security agencies to act swiftly.

The Sokoto State Police Command has reportedly been notified, but there has been no official statement from the authorities as of the time of this report.

Hamdiyyah Sharif has gained attention in recent months for her outspoken criticism of the Sokoto State government, particularly on issues relating to governance, accountability, and public welfare. Her sudden disappearance has raised alarms among activists and human rights advocates, who fear it may be politically motivated.

Civil society organizations are calling for an urgent investigation and for Governor Ahmed Aliyu to speak out and assure the public of Hamdiyyah’s safety.

As Nigerians await updates, hashtags like #WhereIsHamdiyyah and #JusticeForHamdiyyah have begun trending online, amplifying demands for immediate action.
