BREAKING: Another Peter Obi’s Righthand Man, Decamps From Labour Party, Cite Reasons

...In a resignation letter dated May 4, 2025, and addressed to the Labour Party Chairman in Ochuche Ward 406, Ogbaru LGA, Obaze condemned the April 5 primaries as marred by “fraud and criminality,” stating they deviated from the party's constitution and democratic values.

Oseloka Obaze, a close associate of Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has formally resigned from the party, citing irregularities in the recently concluded Anambra governorship primary election.

“The processes, conduct and outcome of the Labour Party governorship primaries… were fraught with outright irregularities, bordering on fraud and criminality,” Obaze wrote. “As such, I hereby disassociate myself henceforth from the Labour Party.”

Obaze, a former United Nations diplomat and ex-Secretary to the Anambra State Government under Obi, also lamented the unresolved leadership crisis at the national level, including the ongoing tussle between Julius Abure and Senator Nenadi Usman.

Confirming the authenticity of the resignation letter to the News Agency of Nigeria, Obaze declined to comment on his next political move.

His departure marks another high-profile defection from the Labour Party, which he joined in 2022 after resigning from the PDP, shortly before taking up the role of campaign manager for Peter Obi’s presidential bid.
