Tinubu to Reportedly Conduct Second Major Cabinet Reshuffle

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly planning a second major shake-up of his cabinet, signaling another significant overhaul of key positions within the federal government.

According to insider sources, several ministers, Directors-General (DGs), and Managing Directors (MDs) of various federal agencies and parastatals are expected to be replaced as part of the President’s renewed strategy to reposition his administration for greater efficiency and performance.

A source close to the presidency described the anticipated reshuffle as a strategic move aimed at enhancing productivity and accountability across critical sectors of governance. “There is something about the power of the presidency; no one is above the president. Once you become a liability, you are gone like the fuel subsidy,” the source remarked.

Although no official statement has been released by the presidency, the source hinted that the ongoing internal review and assessment may have informed President Tinubu’s recent trip to France, which, according to speculations, provides him with a neutral environment to make sensitive decisions without political interference or lobbying pressure.

This expected move comes months after the President’s first cabinet reshuffle in October 2024, which saw the appointment of seven new ministers, the dismissal of five others, and the reassignment of ten cabinet members to new portfolios.

Political observers believe that this upcoming reshuffle may significantly alter the power dynamics within the Tinubu administration and shape its direction heading into the second half of his first term.

While the nation awaits official confirmation, the public and stakeholders alike remain on alert for the announcement of what could be a defining moment in the President’s leadership trajectory.
