The Governor of Kano State, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, have arrived in Uromi, Edo State, following the tragic killings that have rocked the community in recent days.
The delegation, which touched down in Edo earlier today, is on a peace and condolence mission aimed at engaging with local leaders, community stakeholders, and affected families over the escalating violence that has claimed several lives in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.
According to sources close to the visiting entourage, the decision to intervene was prompted by growing national concern and the need to foster unity and inter-state solidarity in the face of security challenges affecting different parts of the country.
Speaking briefly to reporters upon arrival, Deputy Governor Gwarzo emphasized the importance of national peace and brotherhood, urging all parties to embrace dialogue and justice. “We have come to commiserate with the good people of Edo State and Uromi in particular. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and when one part bleeds, we all must come together to heal it,” he stated.
The Emir of Rano, who also addressed journalists, described the killings as “tragic and unacceptable,” stressing the need for traditional institutions to play more proactive roles in peacebuilding across ethnic and regional lines.
The visit is expected to include a closed-door meeting with Edo State Government officials, local security agencies, and traditional rulers in the region as efforts intensify to unravel the cause of the violence and prevent further bloodshed.
As tension remains palpable in parts of Uromi, the presence of the northern leaders has been welcomed by many as a bold and symbolic move towards healing and unity in a time of deep sorrow and uncertainty.
