Developing News!! Aisha Achimugu Declares Hunger Strike in EFCC Custody

Prominent business executive and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, has reportedly declared a hunger strike while in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following her arrest earlier today.

Achimugu, who was picked up by EFCC operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 5 a.m. upon her return from London, is said to be protesting what her legal team describes as a violation of her rights.

Her lawyer, Chief Chikaosolu Ojukwu, confirmed the development, stating that his client had voluntarily returned to Nigeria in compliance with a Federal High Court order directing her to appear before the EFCC on Tuesday and in court on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

“She came in good faith and in line with an undertaking before the court. Her arrest is unjust, and in protest, she has commenced a hunger strike. She is a prisoner of conscience,” Ojukwu said.

EFCC officials, however, maintain that the arrest was lawful, stressing that Achimugu had been declared wanted in March for alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
