Court Defers Ruling on Ganduje’s Alleged Bribery and Misappropriation Case

A Kano State High Court has deferred its ruling on the preliminary objections filed in the case of alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds involving Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, former Governor of Kano State and current APC National Chairman, and seven other defendants.

The Kano State Government had brought eight-count charges against Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar Ganduje, and other individuals including Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, as well as Lamash Properties Ltd., Safari Textiles Ltd., and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd. The charges involve allegations of misappropriation of funds running into billions of Naira.

At Tuesday’s hearing, the defense teams for the accused filed various preliminary objections, mainly challenging the jurisdiction of the court. The legal submissions included multiple affidavits, written addresses, and motions for extension of time, which were all reviewed by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu.

Justice Adamu-Aliyu granted the extension of time and adjourned the matter. She stated that a ruling date on the objections will be communicated to all parties in due course.

The case remains closely watched amid growing public interest in transparency and accountability in governance.
