Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has praised former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for declaring his support for President Bola Tinubu.
Wike described Okowa's endorsement as "another confirmation of the President’s good governance and commitment to national development."
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike encouraged other Nigerians who are still undecided to also support the President.
He noted that Okowa's public endorsement, alongside Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who has also reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), vindicated his decision in the 2023 elections.
“I commend Dr. Okowa and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for this heart-warming decision, which must have been informed by President Bola Tinubu’s good governance and commitment to the unity and development of Nigeria," Wike said.
He further added:
"That is what I have always told people to come out and say, not when they have problems and begin to run up and down."
According to Wike, the public support shown by Okowa and Oborevwori would further benefit the people of the Niger Delta region.
"They have come out at the right time to show support for the President so that the people of Niger Delta can benefit more from the government, and I commend them," he said.
The Minister expressed happiness that others are now realizing what he saw prior to the 2023 presidential election:
"I am particularly happy that what I saw before the 2023 presidential election, others are now seeing and are joining the Renewed Hope train."
