Legendary Juju musician, King Sunny Ade, has publicly debunked the rumours circulating about his alleged disappearance, stating unequivocally that he is alive and well.
In a video and official statement posted via his verified Instagram account, the music icon pointed fingers at his daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, and her associates, accusing them of fabricating the false story of his supposed kidnapping.
"I am not missing. I am well and safe," the music veteran affirmed, expressing deep gratitude to his fans, family, and the general public for their concern and overwhelming show of support.
In his strongly worded statement, King Sunny Ade described the report as mischievous and damaging to his hard-earned reputation. He issued a stern warning to those behind the rumour, threatening legal action if the falsehood continues to circulate.
“Contrary to the falsehood and fabricated news dated 28th April, 2025 peddled by Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye and her associates who declared that I was missing, I hereby state as follows: That I, Dr. Sunday Adeniyi-Adegeye MFR, also known as King Sunny Ade, am alive and well,” the statement read.
“The falsehood about my disappearance or being missing by Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye and her cohorts is completely false. I am alive, well, and grateful for the love and support of my fans. Thanks for your concern.”
“It is very important to address the falsehood and fabricated news… and to assure the general public and loved ones that I am alive and safe. Lastly, I utilize this medium to admonish the blogger(s) responsible for this mischievous act alongside those that take undue privileges to trample on my hard-earned reputation and image to desist forthwith, otherwise be prepared to face the wrath of the law.”
He signed off the statement by expressing heartfelt appreciation to all well-wishers and offered his blessings.
The debunked claim had sparked concern across social media, with fans calling for clarity and praying for the safety of the music legend. The release of the video and official statement has since calmed tensions and restored assurance of his wellbeing.
