BREAKING: Akpabio Petitions Police Over Natasha’s Assassination Allegation

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, seeking an investigation into what he described as a “heinous lie” by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who accused him of plotting her assassination.

In the petition dated April 3, 2025, Akpabio requested the immediate prosecution of Akpoti-Uduaghan for criminal defamation, incitement, and false accusation. He also copied the petition to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

Akpoti-Uduaghan, during a public address in Kogi State on April 1, alleged that Akpabio directed former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to assassinate her in a staged plot to implicate her constituents.

Akpabio firmly denied the claim, describing it as a politically motivated attempt to incite unrest, smear his image, and mislead the public. He stated that the allegation lacked any shred of truth or evidence.

“This is a reckless and deliberate attempt to damage my reputation, endanger my life and security, and incite political unrest,” Akpabio said.

He urged the police to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves, warning that such dangerous accusations could destabilize democratic institutions and the credibility of public office holders.

This development follows an earlier sexual harassment allegation leveled by Akpoti-Uduaghan against Akpabio, which contributed to her suspension from the Senate.

The rivalry between the two lawmakers continues to stir political tension across the country.
