In a remarkable display of academic excellence and perseverance, Osariemen Unuigbe, an 18-year-old Nigerian-American student of Edo State origin, has secured admission into six Ivy League universities in the United States — including the prestigious Harvard and Yale.
A senior at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey, Osariemen has drawn admiration for her outstanding academic record, leadership qualities, and commitment to excellence. Her acceptance into some of the most selective universities in the world underscores the power of hard work, determination, and vision.
Her proud parents, Dr. Augustine and Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Unuigbe, called the achievement “a great miracle”, attributing the success to divine grace and expressing deep gratitude to God.
Osariemen’s educational journey is decorated with notable honors, including her selection into the Governor’s School of New Jersey—a prestigious summer program for high-achieving students. She has held several leadership positions and accumulated a list of academic accolades that reflect her drive for personal and intellectual growth.
Adding to her list of honors, she was recently named a 2025 “Rising to the Top” scholar by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Southern New Jersey Chapter—a recognition given to young women showing exceptional promise and community impact.
Her story resonates strongly within the Nigerian and African diaspora communities, serving as a beacon of inspiration and reaffirming the global impact of Nigerian youths in international education. According to the Open Doors Report, over 20,000 Nigerian students were enrolled in U.S. institutions in the 2023/2024 academic year, marking a 13.5% increase—proof of Nigeria’s growing academic footprint abroad.
Osariemen Unuigbe’s achievements not only highlight her brilliance but also reinforce the importance of nurturing talent, resilience, and global-minded leadership among young Africans.
