BREAKING: State Governor Announces Creation of New Ministries

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has introduced four additional ministries, increasing the total to 27.

The move aims to enhance governance and improve service delivery.

The newly established ministries include:

  • Humanitarian Affairs
  • Science and Digital Economy
  • Youth Development
  • Sports

This restructuring led to the separation of the former Ministry of Youth and Sports into two distinct ministries, each with its own commissioner.

Governor Umo Eno assigned portfolios to the newly appointed commissioners after the inauguration of the state executive council. Dr. Frank Ekpenyong now heads the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy and has already begun work by inspecting the ministry’s facilities. Before his appointment, he managed the Governor’s ICT Directorate.

Princess Emem Emmanuel Ibanga leads the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, while veteran sports administrator Paul Bassey takes charge of the Ministry of Sports.

Ekerette Paul Ekanem has been appointed as the commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Youth Development.

The expanded executive council now consists of 27 members, including four women and nine returning cabinet members.

Governor Eno stated that the goal of the new cabinet is to promote peace and ensure effective governance.
