A 17-year-old boy, Jamiu Adebayo, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s eight-year-old daughter in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta, the state capital.
Reports indicate that the suspect lured the victim into his parents' sitting room, instructed her to remove her underwear, and sexually assaulted her. The girl’s mother, Olabode, was away when neighbors noticed blood coming from her daughter’s private parts and alerted her. Initially, the victim claimed a stick had caused the injury, but after further questioning, she confessed that Adebayo had assaulted her.
The police have confirmed that the suspect was swiftly apprehended, and a medical form has been issued for the victim’s examination. A full investigation is currently underway.
This incident follows another case in September, where a 55-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old neighbor. Authorities are intensifying their efforts to combat such crimes in the state.
