A horrifying crime took place in Hyderabad, India, where Gurumurthy, a 45-year-old retired soldier, confessed to murdering his wife, Venkata Madhavi, 35, after a heated argument. Madhavi had been missing since January 16, and Gurumurthy initially reported her disappearance.
Gurumurthy admitted to killing his wife by slamming her against a wall, which caused her death instantly. In an attempt to hide the evidence, he dismembered her body using a kitchen knife and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker for five to six hours. He then ground her bones with a pestle and mortar and disposed of the remains in Meerpet Lake.
Police seized key evidence, including a pressure cooker, kettle, and knives from the apartment where the crime occurred. Forensic teams, along with a dog squad, searched the lake for remains but have not found any so far.
Initially, Gurumurthy claimed that Madhavi had left their home after a quarrel on the morning of January 16. However, CCTV footage from around their home led police to suspect him. Authorities continue to investigate, believing the crime was not premeditated but resulted from a petty argument.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ch Praveen Kumar, confirmed the ongoing investigation and stated that more evidence is being gathered as Gurumurthy is questioned.
