Enugu Council Chairman Honors Police Officer Murdered In Enugu In December 2024

On Saturday, 11th of January, Dr Vita Ndu, Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, yest attended the emotional burial ceremony of Police Constable Ifechukwu Isaiah Ihuoma, who was tragically slain during an attack on the Aguobu Owa Police Command on December 13, 2024. The mournful occasion brought together family, friends, colleagues, and the community to bid farewell to the brave officer who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

The burial proceedings began with a solemn holy mass held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Aguobu Umana/Umana Ndiagu, presided over by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Udengwu. In his homily, Fr. Udengwu reflected on the fragility of life, stating that death, though inevitable, is a solemn price that all mortals must eventually pay. The congregation gathered in a reverent silence, sharing in the grief of the family and honoring the memory of the fallen officer.

Following the mass, a procession moved to the family home in Owellemba, where the police command paid its final respects. In a deeply emotional ceremony, the police force conducted a final parade to honor Ifechukwu’s dedication and service to the community. His comrades saluted him one last time, reinforcing the magnitude of his sacrifice.

Dr. Vita Ndu, visibly moved by the tragic loss, took a moment to reflect on his personal interactions with PC Ihuoma. With a heavy heart, he recalled the officer's commitment and dedication to his duty. “Death is an inevitable part of life,” Dr. Ndu said, “but we must cherish every moment we have. Let this loss remind us of the sacrifices made by men and women in uniform who protect our lives and ensure our safety.”

The Chairman also pledged his unwavering support to the grieving family. He assured them that both the local government and the people of Ezeagu would stand by them in their time of sorrow. “I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Ihuoma family. We pray that the good Lord will grant you strength and console your hearts as you bear this painful loss,” Dr. Ndu said.

In his address, Dr. Ndu emphasized that the tragic loss of Ifechukwu—whose name means "Light of God"—reminds the community of the sacrifices made by officers who work tirelessly to keep citizens safe.
