BREAKING! Lady Seeks Help After Receiving ₦1M Instead of ₦100K from Loan App, Customer Care Hangs Up on Her Calls

A Nigerian woman has sought help after she mistakenly received ₦1 million instead of the ₦100,000 she intended to borrow from a loan app.

The lady, who had been borrowing regularly from the app for two years, noticed the error an hour after the funds were disbursed. Despite multiple attempts to reach customer service, she claimed her calls were repeatedly disconnected.

She shared her experience through Nigerian journalist @ruffydfire on X (formerly Twitter), detailing how she tried to apply for ₦100,000 but was instead granted ₦1 million. Upon noticing the mistake, she immediately called customer support but encountered resistance, with agents hanging up on her.

Her message reads: “For 2 years now, I’ve been taking loans from FairMoney and paying them back. Today, I clicked on the app to borrow ₦100,000, but instead, they gave me ₦1 million. I didn’t notice until an hour later. When I called customer care, the first agent hung up on me. I called again, and the second agent also cut my call. On the third try, my call was cut again.”

On the fourth attempt, a customer service representative assured her that the correct repayment amount would be sent to her Gmail. The woman pleaded to return the money, stating that she didn’t need ₦1 million and could not afford the high interest.

Her post quickly went viral, with many commenting on the situation. Some urged her to return the excess amount, while others suggested escalating the matter to regulatory bodies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The issue sparked concerns about the practices of loan apps, with reactions including calls for accountability and suggestions for legal action.

This story continues to attract attention, highlighting the struggles some Nigerians face when dealing with loan apps.
