In response to the protracted insecurity in the state, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has carried out major reshuffle in his cabinet, resulting in the dismissal of the Commissioner for Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, alongside several other key members of his administration. The announcement of the reshuffle was made through a statement issued on Saturday by Ibrahim Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor.
Samuel Aruwan, who was initially appointed in 2019 by the former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was the first individual to hold the position of Commissioner for Internal Security when the ministry was created. Prior to this role, Aruwan served as the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media from 2015 to 2019.
In place of Aruwan, Governor Sani has appointed James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. The reshuffle also saw the appointment of other commissioners, including Ibrahim Mohammed as the new Commissioner for Finance, and Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, who also assumes the role of Commissioner for Finance. Barde Yunana Markus has been appointed as the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, while Farida Abubakar Ahmed takes on the role of Executive Director (Radio) at the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC). Vitus Azuka Ewuzie has been named as the Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters.
Additionally, the reshuffle includes the appointments of Francis Damina as Senior Special Assistant for Research and Documentation, Victor Mathew Bobai as Senior Special Assistant for Public Affairs, Abdulmutallib Isah as Senior Special Assistant for Special Duties, and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim as Special Assistant for Economic Matters.
These appointments reflect a significant reshuffling of Governor Uba Sani’s cabinet as he continues to shape his administration.
