Breaking! Enugu Kidnapped Reverend Father Regains Freedom, Narrates Ordeal

 


Rev. Fr. Gerald Ohaeri, a Catholic priest serving at Isienu Nsukka Parish, was released on Wednesday night, December 4, 2024, after being kidnapped along the Ugwuogo Nike-Opi Nsukka expressway. The priest was abducted on Saturday, November 30, 2024, while returning from an event in Enugu.

The release of Fr. Ohaeri comes after days of intense search efforts by security agencies. While authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of his release, the incident has heightened concerns over the rising insecurity along the expressway, a key route in Enugu state.

The Catholic community and residents have expressed relief at Fr. Ohaeri's freedom, while calling for increased measures to combat kidnappings in the region.
