Controversial South African pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng has drawn significant public attention after being seen carrying a large wooden cross on his back while walking through the streets on his way to court. The gesture, reminiscent of biblical imagery, evoked a mix of reactions, ranging from amusement to intrigue, as the video of the spectacle went viral across social media platforms.
Pastor Mboro, known for his dramatic and unconventional displays of faith, is currently standing trial for charges of kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault. His symbolic act of carrying the massive cross appeared to mimic the biblical account of Jesus Christ bearing His cross to the site of crucifixion. This theatrical display gathered a crowd of onlookers, many of whom appeared fascinated by the unusual procession.
In a statement to TimesLive, Pastor Mboro explained the spiritual significance of his actions, stating that the cross symbolized redemption, resilience, and hope amid trials. “We were far away from God, but He brought us closer through the blood of Jesus, through the cross. All injustices, all diseases were on Him on the cross,” he remarked, emphasizing the redemptive power of Christ's suffering.
The pastor further delved into a recent personal ordeal involving his son, Revival, who was allegedly attacked by a group of 11 individuals. According to Pastor Mboro, these individuals were apprehended and are now facing charges of common assault and intimidation. He recounted the incident with visible emotion, sharing how his son suffered physical injuries, including facial bruises, during the assault.
“The people who broke my cars are now coming out, assaulting my son, smashing his face, leaving bruises. There was no justice for more than a hundred days, but God showed up,” Pastor Mboro said, expressing gratitude for what he perceives as divine intervention.
Despite his ongoing legal challenges, Pastor Mboro conveyed an unwavering confidence in overcoming adversity. He declared, “Today it’s just the beginning; I will conquer through the cross. Even if I face this war alone against ten, a hundred, or a million people, I will conquer it.”
The incident has sparked diverse reactions, with some praising the pastor’s dramatic demonstration of faith and others questioning his motives. As his trial proceeds, the spectacle of Pastor Mboro’s cross-bearing walk remains a focal point of public discussion.
