A young woman has been found dead in a hotel located in the Dopemu area of Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred on Friday evening, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the woman’s identity remains unknown. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to reporters on Sunday. He stated that the manager of the hotel informed the police of the unfortunate event after noticing the deteriorating condition of the woman.
"The manager reported that a man walked into the hotel with a lady, and they requested a room for a short stay. However, the identities of both the man and the woman were not documented by the hotel," Hundeyin said.
An hour into their stay, the lady reportedly rushed out of the room, complaining of an intense feeling of heat. The manager provided her with cold water, but her condition did not improve. She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital on Dopemu Road, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Meanwhile, the man who accompanied her had fled the scene, raising concerns about his involvement in the situation.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the hotel manager has been taken into police custody to assist with inquiries. The woman's body has been transferred to the Lagos Mainland General Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities are currently working to uncover the woman's identity and track down the absconding man. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in bringing the case to a close.
