Obieze Appointed to Head Late Iwuanyanwu's Burial Committee

 

Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze has nominated to chair the Funeral Committee for the late President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. The Youth Wing Leader, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, inaugurated the committee yesterday 4th of September 2024, which is tasked with organizing a one-day event to honor the life and legacy of the revered Igbo leader, fondly known as "Ahaejiagamba." Key decisions were reached, including the appointment of Onwuasoanya FCC Jones as Secretary and the formation of various subcommittees to facilitate smooth planning.

Key Decisions Reached at the Inaugural Meeting of the Youth Funeral Committee for Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu;

1. The committee was inaugurated by the Leader of the Youth Wing, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu.

2. Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze was appointed as Chairman while Onwuasoanya FCC Jones was appointed as the Secretary of the Committee 

3. The Committee is empowered to plan a one day event to commemorate and celebrate the legacies of Ahaejiagamba.

4. The committee deliberated and decided that a one day event shall be held in Enugu or Owerri at a date to be decided after determining other events planned by the Central and Local Organising Committees, to avoid a clash in scheduling.

5. The committee shall devolve into sub committees for ease of operations.

6. The sub committees to be set up include; Contact and Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Finance, Entertainment and Welfare, Security and Works Committees.

7. The Chairman of the committee assured that further details shall be communicated and final decisions on the date and budget shall be communicated, in due time.

8. Committee agreed that the programme shall be tagged; Igbo Youths Day of Tributes for Ahaejiagamba.

9. It is further decided that all commissioners for Youth across the Southeast shall statutorily serve on the Finance subcommittee.

10. Meeting was adjourned to be reconvened at 9pm at Amber City Hotel, Owerri.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, who passed away on July 25th, 2024, at the age of 82, was a towering figure in Igbo society. Born in September 1942 in Umuohii, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State, he made his mark as a successful businessman, politician, and cultural leader. Until his death, Iwuanyanwu was serving as the 11th President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide and President of the Owerri Peoples Assembly. His legacy of leadership, particularly his dedication to the unity and advancement of Ndigbo, continues to resonate, as plans for the "Igbo Youths Day of Tributes for Ahaejiagamba" move forward under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze. The event promises to be a fitting tribute to a man whose impact spanned decades
