According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, the 31-year-old victim, Idowu Adebowale, reported the case to the Ogijo Division of the police at about 5:15 p.m. on the day of the incident. Adebowale alleged that his wife used a sharp object to inflict a severe injury on his manhood during a disagreement that escalated in the early hours of October 15.

“He reported an attempted murder case on Monday at about 5:15 p.m.,” Odutola said. “A 31-year-old man named Idowu Adebowale, from the Oko-Oba area of Ogijo, came to the police station and stated that on October 15 at 4:30 a.m., his wife, 28-year-old Ogunlana Yemisi, used a sharp object to severely injure his manhood during a minor disagreement. He showed the officers the injury, revealing a significant cut near the tip of his penis.”

Despite the severity of the injury, the victim delayed seeking medical help, prompting the police to issue him a medical form and advise him to go to the hospital immediately.

Following her arrest, Yemisi Ogunlana denied the allegations during police interrogation. However, the police have confirmed that she remains in custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation.

Odutola further explained that the incident is suspected to have been fueled by uncontrolled anger, which escalated into domestic violence.

This case highlights the growing concerns surrounding domestic violence in the region and has sparked discussions on the need for improved conflict resolution mechanisms in relationships to prevent such tragic outcomes. The police are expected to conclude their investigation and bring the case to court soon.
