Governor Senator Prince Bassey Otu of Cross River State has declared Thursday, October 31, and Friday, November 1, 2024, as public holidays across the state to facilitate citizens' participation in the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for November 2.
This decision aims to ensure that every eligible voter, especially those residing in remote areas far from the state capital, has the opportunity to engage in the electoral process. Governor Otu highlighted that the public holidays provide ample time for those who need to travel back to their communities to cast their votes and fulfill their civic duty.
Emphasizing the importance of active citizen involvement, the governor urged all residents to make use of the holiday period to participate in the elections, reinforcing that their involvement is crucial to shaping the future of local governance in Cross River State.
