Breaking News! FG Commences Sales of 50kg Rice for N40k

The Federal Government has outlined specific steps for Nigerians to purchase a 50kg bag of milled rice at a subsidized price of N40,000. To be eligible, individuals must provide their National Identification Number (NIN), a valid identification card, and an ATM card during the registration and payment process.

The distribution of the subsidized rice will take place in Abuja, specifically at the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) building. Beneficiaries who complete the required documentation and make the necessary payments can collect their rice at the Central Business Area, near the First Bank branch by NNPC Towers.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, addressed concerns regarding potential challenges in the distribution process. He assured the public that a government team has been set up to ensure a smooth process and to prevent fraud. Measures to combat fraud include limiting each individual to one bag of rice and verifying their identity through NIN and phone numbers.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Federal Government to distribute 30,000 metric tons of rice—equivalent to 1,000 trucks—across various states, with the aim of enhancing food security and potentially lowering the price of rice in the market. Beneficiaries must have the required documentation to participate in the program.
