BREAKING! 2027: FG Bars Former Presidential Candidate from Leaving Nigeria, As Nigerian Immigration Places Him on A Watch List

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has placed Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election, on a watchlist, effectively preventing him from leaving the country.

Sowore revealed this development through a statement and video shared on X.com, where he expressed frustration over continued harassment by the NIS. He stated, "The Nigerian Immigration Service continues to subject me to unwarranted harassment and abuse, violating my rights repeatedly."

He further disclosed that on this particular occasion, he was stopped while attempting to leave Nigeria, with immigration officers citing his inclusion on a watchlist as the reason for the obstruction.

This latest encounter comes after Sowore’s earlier detention in September at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, where NIS officials seized his international passport. In an update following the recent incident, Sowore confirmed via another tweet that he has since been cleared to travel.

This ongoing situation underscores the challenges Sowore has faced with the authorities, which he views as an infringement on his fundamental rights.
