FG Declares Monday, Sept. 16 Public Holiday


The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, a public holiday in commemoration of the Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.


Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to the Muslim Ummah, both in Nigeria and abroad, as they celebrate this significant occasion. In his statement, he called upon the Muslim faithful and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this period. He emphasized the importance of using the celebration as an opportunity to pray for sustained peace and prosperity across the nation.
