The Federal Government’s student loan initiative has delivered ₦54.21 million to 360 students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State, prompting the institution to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for their continued support.

The Provost of the college, Professor Jonathan Jeremiah Atungwu, conveyed the institution’s appreciation in an acknowledgement and commendation letter dated September 28, 2026, addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of NELFUND.

According to the letter, the college received the funds through four disbursement rounds spanning the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions, providing financial assistance to hundreds of students pursuing their education.

The first tranche of ₦19.524 million was released on August 13, 2025, benefiting 91 students, while the second disbursement of ₦11.197 million followed on October 22, 2025, covering 54 students.

For the 2025/2026 academic session, NELFUND released ₦7.76775 million on March 25, 2026, to support 73 students. Another ₦15.72125 million was disbursed on April 8, 2026, benefiting 142 students.

The four payments brought the total disbursement to ₦54.21 million for 360 beneficiaries, marking continued financial support for students of the Ibadan-based agricultural institution across the two academic sessions.

Professor Atungwu expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and NELFUND for their cooperation and commitment to expanding access to higher education through the student loan scheme.

He also thanked the Fund for its continued partnership with the institution, describing the collaboration as an important part of efforts to support students in meeting their educational expenses.

The development highlights the role of NELFUND in extending student financing to eligible beneficiaries across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, helping to address the financial challenges that can affect access to and continuity in higher education.

Through the scheme, eligible students can access financial assistance towards approved educational costs, reducing some of the immediate financial pressures on them and their families.

The Provost concluded his letter by appreciating NELFUND for its usual collaboration with the college, reaffirming the institution’s recognition of the Fund’s support for its students.
