The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has provided a fresh financial boost to students of Yussuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura, Katsina State, with a total of ₦6,022,660 disbursed to 286 verified students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The intervention, which combines support for registration fees and monthly stipends, is another indication of the expanding reach of the Federal Government’s student financing programme across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
In an acknowledgement letter dated August 13, 2026, the College confirmed that it received ₦5,628,000 on January 30, 2026, for 268 verified students.
A further ₦394,660 was disbursed on June 27, 2026, benefiting another 18 verified students. Together, the two payments bring the reported NELFUND support received by the institution to ₦6,022,660 for 286 students.
The College’s Registrar, Haj. Aisha Idris, expressed profound gratitude to NELFUND management for the disbursement, according to the official acknowledgement letter.
The latest support is expected to ease the financial pressure associated with registration and other education-related expenses, allowing beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies.
For the 286 beneficiaries, the intervention represents more than a financial disbursement. It provides practical support at a time when meeting the cost of higher education can be challenging for students and their families.
The Daura disbursement adds to the growing number of institutional interventions through NELFUND, reinforcing the Fund’s role in expanding access to tertiary education and helping eligible Nigerian students pursue their academic ambitions with greater financial stability.
