No fewer than 301 students of the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, Ibadan, have benefited from a combined ₦148.342 million disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The institution confirmed receipt of the funds in an acknowledgement letter signed by the Provost, Dr. Owolabi G.O. (Mrs.), expressing appreciation to the management of NELFUND for the financial intervention and assuring that the funds would be disbursed to the appropriate beneficiaries.
The disbursement was released in three tranches, covering a total of 301 student beneficiaries. The first tranche amounted to ₦138.672 million for 283 students, received on March 10, 2026.
The second tranche provided ₦2.328 million for four students, while the third tranche amounted to ₦7.342 million for 14 students, bringing the combined figure to ₦148.342 million for 301 students.
The substantial intervention represents a major financial relief for the beneficiaries, particularly as statutory institutional charges can place significant pressure on students and their families.
For the nursing students, the NELFUND support offers renewed financial breathing space, enabling them to continue their professional training with reduced concerns over outstanding institutional charges.
The development also highlights the expanding reach of the Federal Government’s student-loan initiative, which is designed to remove financial barriers to tertiary education and provide eligible Nigerian students with greater opportunities to complete their studies.
With 301 students receiving ₦148.342 million, the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences joins the growing number of tertiary institutions benefiting from NELFUND’s intervention as the scheme continues to provide renewed hope and financial support to students pursuing higher education.
