The organic grassroots political movement, G-17 For Peter Mbah, on Monday, June 22, 2026, stormed Udi Local Government Area for the inauguration of its Local Government, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers in what turned out to be a massive political gathering and affirmation of support for the re-election of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Unlike many support groups, G-17 remains one of the few genuinely organic political movements in Enugu State, with its members neither being political appointees nor belonging to any other support groups. Membership into the group is strictly based on grassroots acceptance, ownership of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and commitment to the ideals of the movement. Members are also subjected to an oath of office before inauguration, making G-17 one of the most disciplined and structured political movements in the state.

The event, held at the Udi Local Government Secretariat, attracted political stakeholders, party leaders, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, and hundreds of supporters from across the twenty political wards of the local government area.

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Hyginus Ogbonnia Agu, warmly welcomed the G-17 delegation and described the organisation as the number one grassroots mobilisation structure in Enugu State.

The council chairman pledged to work closely with the group, expressing confidence in its capacity to deliver massive electoral victories for the APC in future elections.

According to him, Udi Local Government has completely embraced the APC and remains firmly behind the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

"We are converted already. Udi is APC in the morning, APC in the afternoon and APC at night. There is no other political party in Udi except APC," he declared to thunderous applause.

Hon. Engr. Agu further boasted that Udi Local Government would deliver its entire 245,000 registered voters to the APC in the 2027 general elections.

"There is no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027. Governor Peter Mbah's re-election is one hundred percent assured in Udi Local Government Area," he stated.

The chairman noted that Governor Mbah's administration has transformed governance in Enugu State through infrastructural development, educational reforms, healthcare investments and economic rejuvenation, making the task of mobilisation easier for party faithful.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman of Udi Local Government Area, Hon Barr. Bona Madu, commended the leadership of G-17, describing the group as unique among support organisations in the state.

He noted that members of G-17 are not affiliated with other political support groups and are genuinely committed to the APC and the political vision of Governor Peter Mbah.

"I love G-17 because its members are true believers in this project. They are not double-faced politicians; they are genuine followers of Governor Peter Mbah and are committed to the progress of the APC," he said.

The APC Candidate for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr Festus Uzor, who was also the former Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Enugu State, represented by Chief Hon Onyebuchi Aneke, commended the group and acknowledged its longstanding grassroots credentials.

According to him, Dr. Uzor understands the enormous capacity and organisational strength of G-17, stressing that the movement has consistently demonstrated its ability to mobilise support and deliver electoral victories.

"In terms of grassroots mobilisation, G-17 stands tall and has proven itself worthy of delivering Governor Peter Mbah in the 2027 elections," he stated.

The National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, called on women across Udi Local Government Area to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that every eligible voter obtains a Permanent Voter Card.

She noted that women and children remain the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Peter Mbah's administration, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, social welfare and economic empowerment.

She urged women to be at the forefront of the movement to return Governor Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to office in 2027.

In his keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and charged them to immediately commence aggressive door-to-door mobilisation and political education across the twenty wards of Udi Local Government Area.

Hon. Dr. Mbah expressed delight at the developmental strides of the Udi Local Government Chairman, revealing that the council chairman personally took the G-17 delegation on an inspection tour of ongoing projects in the area.

He commended Hon. Agu for the construction of the Local Government Executive Lodge, a 2,000-capacity multipurpose hall, the High Court Judicial Complex, and the rehabilitation of water facilities capable of generating over 10,000 litres of water.

"What I have seen today clearly shows that the chairman is following in the footsteps of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Like father, like son. The developmental philosophy of Governor Mbah is being replicated here in Udi," he said.

Hon. Dr. Mbah further disclosed that all the twenty political wards in Udi Local Government Area have benefited from Governor Mbah's administration through the establishment of Smart Green Schools, Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres, road infrastructure and other critical projects.

He added that Udi has equally benefited immensely from the federal appointments facilitated under the APC administration, citing the emergence of an illustrious son of Udi as the Chief of Air Staff.

He also highlighted the rehabilitation of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, particularly the Ugwu-Onyeama and Ninth Mile axis, which has significantly reduced accidents and improved transportation.

According to him, the numerous developmental projects and political benefits accruing to the people of Udi are sufficient reasons for them to support Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

"From councillors to the President, APC must win in Udi Local Government Area. The opposition is crying because they can no longer find anybody to use. G-17 has swept through the grassroots and the people are fully aligned with Governor Peter Mbah's vision for Enugu State," he declared.

He concluded by urging the newly inaugurated executives to immediately begin ward-to-ward, polling unit-to-polling unit and house-to-house mobilisation, stressing that the success of the APC in 2027 would depend on effective grassroots engagement and sustained voter education.

The inauguration of the Udi Local Government and Ward Executives marks another major milestone in the continuous expansion of G-17's statewide political structures and further consolidates its reputation as one of the most formidable and organically rooted grassroots political movements in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
