BLACKOUT!! MEDL Announces Planned 10-Hour Power Outage in Parts of Enugu

Residents and businesses across several parts of Enugu metropolis are set to experience a temporary power outage on Sunday as MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) concludes ongoing repair works on damaged electricity infrastructure.

In a notice issued on Saturday, the company stated that the outage would occur from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

According to MEDL, the planned interruption is necessary to enable its engineers to complete work on the reconstructed Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 towers, as well as carry out the restringing of wires. The company explained that the exercise is aimed at ensuring a safe working environment for its technical team.

The notice, signed by the Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, indicated that power supply would be temporarily disrupted on the Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, Ituku Ozalla, and Ugwogo 33KV lines.

Areas expected to be affected include Trans Ekulu, Emene, Thinkers Corner, Emenite, Airport, Alo Aluminium, Akpuoga, Nkwubor, Ugwuomu, Abakpa Nike, Nike Lake, Ugwogo, and surrounding communities connected to the affected feeders.

MEDL appealed to customers for patience and understanding, especially those who have already experienced several days of electricity disruption due to the ongoing repairs.

The company, however, assured that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise.
