Armed herdsmen have reportedly killed two security operatives and abducted a man alongside his daughter in Agbani, located in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The attack occurred late Tuesday evening when the assailants, said to have emerged from a nearby forest, ambushed a local security patrol along a road frequently used by commuters and farmers. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the gunmen intercepted a vehicle conveying the victims, leading to a confrontation with members of a local vigilante group. In the exchange, two security operatives were fatally shot, while the attackers forcefully took the man and his daughter into the surrounding forest.
Family sources confirmed that the kidnappers have contacted relatives, demanding a ransom of N25 million for the victims’ release. The incident has triggered panic across Agbani and neighboring communities, with residents expressing renewed fears over persistent security threats in the area.
Security operatives have since deployed tactical teams to comb the forest and track down the perpetrators. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims, while surveillance has been intensified in the affected community.
