SECURITY ALERT‼️US Warns Citizens of Possible Terror Attacks at Strategic Locations In Nigeria

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert warning American citizens of a possible terrorist threat targeting U.S. facilities and affiliated schools in Nigeria.

In a security notice released on Monday, the embassy advised U.S. nationals in the country to exercise increased caution when visiting American diplomatic missions and institutions linked to the United States.

According to the advisory, citizens should be particularly vigilant when travelling to the U.S. Embassy Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General Lagos, as well as schools affiliated with the United States.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja informs U.S. citizens of a possible terrorist threat against U.S. facilities and U.S. affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the statement said.

The embassy recommended that Americans adopt additional safety measures, including varying travel times and routes, avoiding predictable routines, and maintaining heightened awareness in public places.

It further urged citizens to keep their mobile phones fully charged for emergencies, review their personal security plans, avoid crowds and demonstrations, and familiarise themselves with emergency exits when entering buildings.

“Be aware of your surroundings, keep a low profile, review your personal security plans, vary your regular routes, keep your cell phone charged in case of emergency, stay alert in public places, avoid crowds and demonstrations, and familiarize yourself with emergency exits when entering buildings,” the advisory added.

However, the embassy did not disclose the specific source of the threat.

The warning comes amid heightened global security concerns following rising tensions in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which have triggered missile and drone exchanges across the region.

The development also follows protests in Lagos and some northern parts of Nigeria by members of the Islamic Movement, who condemned the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during recent strikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel.

Security analysts say the advisory is part of routine precautionary measures often issued by diplomatic missions to ensure the safety of their citizens abroad.
