HAPPENING NOW!! Governor Sacks Head of Service

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his duties with immediate effect as part of efforts to reorganise the civil service and strengthen the operations of government institutions.

The decision was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, Musa had already completed his official tenure as a civil servant in 2024 but was retained by the state government to continue overseeing the activities of the civil service beyond his statutory retirement.

However, the government has now decided to end his appointment as part of broader administrative reforms aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery within the state’s public service.

Governor Yusuf, while announcing the development, expressed appreciation to Musa for his dedication and contributions to the state during his time in office.

Following the development, the governor directed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services in the Cabinet Office, to assume the role in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.

She is expected to oversee the affairs of the office until a new appointment is made.

The outgoing Head of Service has also been instructed to formally hand over all official documents and responsibilities to the acting Head of Service.

The transition process, according to the government, is expected to be concluded immediately to ensure continuity in the administration of the state civil service.
