The resignation was officially announced on Friday in a statement issued by Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson of the . According to the statement, Abdussalam stepped down in the interest of stability and effective governance in the state.
The development comes just days after the state legislature commenced impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor. Earlier in the week, a sitting in Kano declined his application seeking to halt the process, further intensifying the political situation.
