BREAKING!! Nigeria Police Remove Force PRO Benjamin Hundeyin Six Months After Appointment Amid Shake-up

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has removed its Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, barely six months after he assumed the influential position.

The approval for Hundeyin’s removal was reportedly given on Thursday, March 5, 2026. However, the circumstances surrounding the sudden decision remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The development is believed to be part of an ongoing internal restructuring within the police hierarchy following recent leadership changes at the Force Headquarters.

The shake-up comes shortly after Tunji Disu was appointed as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police by Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Disu assumed office last week following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun, who had led the force since 2023.

A source quoted by The Whistler confirmed the development, stating that the Force spokesperson was relieved of his duties earlier in the day.

“The Force Public Relations Officer has been removed this morning,” the source said.

However, uncertainty remains over who will replace Hundeyin as the new spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly as operational activities within the police have intensified in recent days.

“We don’t know who will take over from him, although we thought he would last longer considering his expertise,” the source added.

“However, when a new IGP is appointed, it is not unusual for some positions to change. Unfortunately, he was affected.”

When contacted earlier, Hundeyin reportedly stated that he was “unavailable right now” and advised journalists to reach out to spokespersons of the Federal Capital Territory or various state police commands for official responses.

The development marks another notable change within the Nigeria Police leadership structure amid ongoing reforms and realignments following the appointment of the new Inspector-General of Police.
