About 100 military personnel from the United States have arrived at Bauchi Airfield in Bauchi as part of ongoing bilateral security cooperation with Nigeria.

The development was confirmed by Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, which stated that the deployment forms part of existing defence agreements between both countries.

According to military authorities, the US personnel and their equipment were received by senior Nigerian military officials and are expected to work closely with local forces in joint engagements.

Officials explained that the collaboration is aimed at strengthening intelligence sharing, enhancing logistics support, and improving overall operational capacity in the fight against terrorism and other security threats affecting parts of the country.

Military sources emphasized that the presence of the foreign troops aligns with established bilateral defence arrangements and is focused strictly on boosting Nigeria’s counter-insurgency and security operations.

Authorities added that further details regarding the scope and duration of the deployment would be made available in due course.
