BREAKING: Governor Sacks Commissioners, Dissolves Entire Cabinet

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect, terminating the appointments of all commissioners and special advisers in a sweeping political move.

The decision was announced in a brief statement issued late Thursday, February 12, 2026.

Governor Fubara directed all affected appointees to immediately hand over the affairs of their respective ministries and offices to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their establishments.

According to the statement, the dissolution takes immediate effect, effectively resetting the executive structure of the Rivers State Government.

Despite the abrupt shake-up, the governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for their service, acknowledging what he described as their “immense contributions” to governance and wishing them well in their future endeavours.

The development signals a major restructuring within the executive arm of government and is widely viewed as a precursor to fresh appointments and possible policy realignments in the days ahead.
