Federal Government College (FGC) Enugu is set to witness another historic moment as the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba (Dike Eji Eje Mba Na Enugu), announces the commissioning of an ultra-modern pavilion alongside the foundation-laying ceremony for new staff quarters.
The landmark event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the premises of Federal Government College Enugu, and is expected to draw top government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, education stakeholders, parents, alumni, and members of the public.
This major development marks a significant leap in the ongoing infrastructural renewal of the college and is widely seen as a direct outcome of sustained advocacy and strategic engagements by the PTA leadership. Notably, the event comes as a follow-up to the historic visit by the PTA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba, to the then Honourable Minister of State for Education on October 15, 2024, where he passionately solicited urgent federal intervention to address critical infrastructural deficits at FGC Enugu. That visit laid the groundwork for renewed federal and stakeholder attention to the school’s needs, particularly in staff welfare and learning facilities.
The Chairman of the Occasion is the Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, whose presence further underscores the strong collaboration between the school, the PTA, and the local government authority.
The event will feature an array of distinguished personalities, led by the Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Honourable Minister of State for Education, whose attendance reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Unity Schools across the country. Also expected is the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as Guest of Honour, reflecting the state government’s support for quality education and infrastructural development.
Adding spiritual depth to the occasion, the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Prof. Obiajulu Ike, will serve as the Spiritual Father of the Day, while royal blessings will be delivered by HRM Igwe Ikechukwu Samuel Asadu (Ogadagidi), Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, as the Royal Father of the Day.
The Director/Principal of FGC Enugu, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeka Ogbuanya, will act as the Chief Host, welcoming guests to what is being described as a defining chapter in the school’s history. The PTA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mba, will serve as Host, reinforcing his central role in driving the school’s infrastructural and welfare-focused transformation.
Education stakeholders have described the commissioning of the ultra-modern pavilion and the commencement of staff quarters construction as a bold statement of purposeful leadership, capacity building, and sustainable development.
